# Bandwidth Usage

Bandwidth Usage on our platform is shared between upload and download traffic. This means that both directions of data flow contribute to your total speed and usage limits. This standard applies to every plan we offer.

#### Why We Use Shared limits

To keep our usage fair and simple, we use an industry-standard method for calculating traffic. Here is how it works:

* The Proxy Mirror: When you use a proxy, the server does twice the work - it takes data from you and "mirrors" it to the website you are visiting.
* One-Way Billing: Even though the server handles the data twice, we only count the traffic between you and the proxy. This means we effectively bill for only half of the actual work the server performs.
* Industry Standard: This is the fairest way to provide unlimited plans. We simply calculate what you send (upload) and what the remote site sends back (download) as a single combined total.
